Minor Flood Warning For The Noosa And Mooloolah Rivers
Issued at 02:43 PM AEST on Monday 09 March 2026
Flood Warning Number: 4

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT TEWANTIN AND PALMVIEW MONDAY EVENING ON THE HIGH TIDE
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday over the Maroochy and Noosa River catchments which is likely to cause river level rises and minor flooding across the catchment.
A Flood Watch for most of Queensland is current. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall and damaging winds is current.

Noosa River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Noosa River at Tewantin.
The Noosa River at Tewantin is currently at 0.92 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Noosa River at Tewantin may exceed the minor flood level (1.00 m) Monday evening on the high tide. The river may remain around the minor flood level (1.00 m) for the next few days.

Mooloolah River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Mooloolah River.
The Mooloolah River at Palmview is currently at 4.02 m AHD and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Mooloolah River at Palmview may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m AHD) Monday evening on the high tide.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

for Heavy, Locally Intense Rainfall And Damaging Winds

for Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL POSSIBLE IN THE SOUTHEAST TODAY, WITH DAMAGING WINDS POSSIBLE OVER THE CAPRICORNIA AND WIDE BAY AND BURNETT.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is currently situated near Emerald and will gradually move to the southeast today, crossing the coast in the evening. A trough extends from this low through southeastern parts of the state. Heavy to locally intense rainfall is expected in the vicinity of the low through the southeast and parts of adjacent inland districts during Monday.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely over central and southeastern districts for the remainder of Monday. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 and 90 mm are likely. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 90 and 120 mm are likely, with isolated totals around 250 mm possible. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible over inland and coastal parts of the warning area with six-hourly totals of around 160 mm.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible over parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett during Monday afternoon and evening.
Conditions are expected to ease below warning thresholds from early Tuesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Gympie, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Emerald, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Biloela, Yeppoon, Cherbourg, Monto and Rolleston.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Central West and Southeast Coast districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
155 mm WAS RECORDED AT BOWEN DOWNS IN THE 6 HOURS TO 3:00 AM.
90 mm was recorded at Valeria in the 6 hours to 5:44 am.
123 mm was recorded at Planet Downs in the 6 hours to 5:16 am.
95 mm was recorded at Cooranga (Boyne River) in the 6 hours to 5:00 am.
97.4 mm was recorded at Avocet in the 6 hours to 3:40 am.
119 mm was recorded at Brovinia (Cadarga Creek) in the 6 hours to 3:20 am.
106 mm was recorded at Boondooma in the 6 hours to 1:24 am.
66 mm was recorded at Sapphire (Retreat Creek) in the 1 hour to 12:05 am.

* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Moderate Flood Warning For The Upper Brisbane River And Stanley River

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WOODFORD AND GREGOR CREEK OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded across the Upper Brisbane and Stanley catchments during Sunday and into Monday. Moderate flooding may occur along the Stanley River at Woodford and along the Upper Brisbane River at Gregor Creek overnight Monday into Tuesday. Further rainfall is forecast during the remainder of Monday which may cause small additional river level rises.
The situation is being monitored closely and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for most of Queensland. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current including parts of the upper Stanley catchment.

Stanley River to Somerset Dam:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Stanley River at Woodford.
The Stanley River at Woodford is currently at 4.15 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Stanley River at Woodford is likely to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) from Monday afternoon. The river may peak near the moderate flood level (6.10 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Brisbane River to Wivenhoe Dam:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Upper Brisbane River at Gregor Creek.
The Brisbane River at Gregor Creek is currently at 2.46 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Brisbane River at Gregor Creek is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.50 m) from Monday afternoon. The river may peak near the moderate flood level (4.50 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
