Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones
for parts of Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are developing over southeast Queensland.
Weather Situation
Moderate instability is developing over parts of southeast Queensland this afternoon near a surface trough, and this will combine with strong winds in the upper atmosphere to provide a favourable environment for the development of isolated severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gayndah, Gin Gin, Miriam Vale, Childers and Biggenden.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:35 pm.
