A trough tracking across northeastern NSW and an unstable airmass are resulting in severe thunderstorms in southeast Queensland.
HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Kingaroy, Cherbourg, Yarraman, Nanango, Murgon and Wondai.
109 km/h wind gust recorded at Dalby at 10:16 pm.
107 km/h wind gust recorded at Goondiwindi Airport at 6:26 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

This thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Bell by 3:05 am and Mt Mowbullan and the ranges north of Jandowae by 3:35 am.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
A flood peak is moving down the Dawson River and is nearing Moura. Recent storms have also caused renewed rises in the Theodore area. Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which in combination with existing flows may result in renewed river level rises and minor flooding along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and falling slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
