Weather Situation
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

Surf Life Saving Queensland advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local radio base and consider their safety management plan.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Monday.

Coastal Hazard Warning
for DAMAGING SURF

for parts of Southeast Coast Forecast District.

Issued at 4:56 am Monday, 4 August 2025.


Damaging surf developed on Sunday and are continuing on Monday morning.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system offshore the northern NSW coast is bringing vigorous southerly winds and large, powerful southeasterly waves to the coast before the low moves away to the east during Monday.
DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
Southeast Coast
LARGE AND POWERFUL SURF CONDITIONS are likely, which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure between Cape Moreton and the New South Wales border.
Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.
These conditions are expected to ease by Monday afternoon.
Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, and ocean-facing coasts of Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands.
Waves up to 6.6 metres were recorded at Brisbane monitoring site at 2:30 am on Monday.
A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current, refer to the latest warnings at www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/


Emergency services advise people to:
* Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks. Adhere to warning from lifesavers and lifeguards .
* If you have a boat or water craft, haul out if possible or check your moorings are secure.
* If you have children make sure they are within arm's reach around the water.

The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Monday.

* Stay away from storm water drains.
* Stay away from fallen powerlines.
* Drive slowly and never drive through floodwaters. If the road is flooded or damaged, go another way.
