Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall, Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones
for Brisbane City and parts of Ipswich, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Redland City, Moreton Bay and Toowoomba Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms approaching Brisbane and Moreton Bay.
HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Ipswich, Somerset, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Redland City, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:40 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones were detected near the area south of Esk, Grantham and Helidon. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Strathpine and Gatton by 6:10 pm and Redcliffe, Caboolture and southern waters of Moreton Bay by 6:40 pm.

Gold Coast,Scenic Rim,Logan
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Wide Bay and Burnett districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:45 pm.
