for Intense Rainfall
for parts of Toowoomba and Western Downs Council Areas.

Heavy to intense rainfall with slow moving storms west of Toowoomba.
INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Western Downs and Toowoomba
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:40 am, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding was detected near Pittsworth and Kincora. This thunderstorm is slow moving. It is forecast to affect the area west of Toowoomba by 2:10 am and Bowenville and the area east of Dalby by 2:40 am.
89mm was recorded at Centenary Bridge in the 2 hours to 01:30 am.
Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district.
The next warning is due to be issued by 2:50 am.
