Major Flood Warning For The Lower Balonne And Bokhara Rivers, Balonne River Minor

MAJOR FLOOD PEAK LIKELY AT DIRRANBANDI FROM LATE TUESDAY
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT HEBEL LATE THIS WEEK, AND EASED AT ST GEORGE
Moderate rainfall over the past couple weeks resulted in elevated river levels across the upper Balonne River catchment, with flows now moving through the lower catchment. The main flood peak along the lower Balonne River is approaching Dirranbandi, with moderate flooding. Minor flooding eased along the Balonne River at St George.
Further downstream along the Bokhara River, another flood peak is around Dirranbandi-Hebel Road. Minor flooding is possible at Hebel late this week as upstream flows arrive.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the next few days.

Lower Balonne and Bokhara Rivers, Balonne River Minor:
Moderate to major flooding is occurring along the lower Balonne River and Balonne River Minor. Major flooding is likely at Dirranbandi. Minor flooding is possible along the Bokhara River.

No observations are currently available for the Balonne River at St George. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level and falling.
The Balonne River at St George is expected to remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m).

The Balonne River Minor at Dirranbandi is currently at 4.71 m and rising, above the moderate flood level (4.30 m).
The Balonne River at Dirranbandi is likely to peak near the major flood level (4.80 m) from late Tuesday.

The Bokhara River at Hebel is currently at -0.06 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Bokhara River at Hebel may exceed the minor flood level (1.00 m) late this week.

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT JUNDAH AND WINDORAH
MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT STONEHENGE, LIKELY AT RETREAT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Along the Thomson River, the main flood peak has passed Jundah, where the river level peaked with major flooding during Monday morning. Upstream, moderate flooding is continuing to ease at Stonehenge, and minor flooding is continuing to ease at Camoola Park and Longreach.
Along the Barcoo River, the main flood peak is around Glenlock. These flood waters are likely to cause moderate flooding at Retreat from Tuesday afternoon.
Along the Cooper Creek at Windorah, major flooding is occurring with a major flood peak expected from Wednesday morning as flows arrive from the Thomson River.
The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Thomson River:
Major flooding is occurring along the Thomson River at Jundah.
At Monday 7:00 am, the Thomson River at Camoola Park was at 3.35 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the next few days.

The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 4.21 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Thomson River at Longreach is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.30 m) for the next few days.

The Thomson River at Stonehenge is currently at 4.00 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (3.00 m) for the next few days.

The Thomson River at Jundah peaked at 6.35 m Monday morning, with major flooding. The river is currently at 6.30 m and falling, with major flooding.
The Thomson River at Jundah is likely to remain above the major flood level (5.00 m) for the next few days.

Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Moderate flooding is likely along the Barcoo River at Retreat.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is currently at 3.78 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (4.50 m) from Tuesday afternoon. The river may peak near 5.30 m from Wednesday afternoon, with moderate flooding.

Cooper Creek:
Major flooding is occurring along the Cooper Creek at Windorah.
The Cooper Creek at Windorah is currently at 5.41 m and rising, with major flooding.
The Cooper Creek at Windorah may peak near 6.50 m from Wednesday morning, with major flooding.
