for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and North West Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall about the northern inland expected to ease during today.
Weather Situation
Tropical Low 29U crossed the coast near Innisfail during Friday afternoon. The monsoon trough extends inland from this low and is focusing heavy rainfall through the northern interior. The low and monsoon trough are expected to weaken during today and with it decrease the risk of widespread heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and North West
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING over parts of the northern inland during the morning period before easing later today. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 70 and 100 mm are likely, with isolated totals up to 130 mm possible.
A slight risk of locally heavy rainfall still persists for coastal parts of northeast and central Queensland this morning. If heavy rainfall is expected for the coast then a Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued for the affected areas.
Various Flood Watches and Flood Warnings are current throughout Queensland, including for the North Tropical Coast and Cape York Peninsula districts. Please see https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts for more information.
Locations which may be affected include Georgetown, Hughenden, Richmond, Croydon, Gregory Springs and Forsayth.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Peninsula, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
Significant rainfall observations to 4am:
118.0 mm rainfall observed at Glenore Weir TM in the 6 hours to 2am.
79,6 mm rainfall observed at Normanton Airport in the 6 hours to 2.36am.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin,North Tropical Coast and Tablelands,Peninsula
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Saturday.
