HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL DEVELOPING OVER WESTERN QUEENSLAND FROM TONIGHT.
Weather Situation
A tropical low is situated near the North West, Channel Country and Northern Territory border region and is expected to move slowly southward and strengthens over the weekend. Rich tropical moisture is feeding into the system, which will bring a broad risk of heavy to locally intense rainfall, especially on its eastern side over western Queensland. The chance of locally intense rainfall is greatest during the overnight hours.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gulf Country, North West and Channel Country
HEAVY TO LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the North West, Channel Country and far southwestern Gulf Country from late Friday evening. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 55 and 80 mm are likely, with localised falls to 130 mm possible. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 100 and 150 mm are likely, with localised falls to 220 mm possible.
These conditions also present a risk to cattle and other livestock.

Locations which may be affected include Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Camooweal, Boulia, Urandangi and Dajarra.

Downstream at Hungerford, minor flooding is estimated to be occurring and is likely to continue for the next few days. Further rises at Hungerford are possible as the main flood peak arrives.

Minor flooding is estimated to be occurring at Eulo.
No observations are currently available for the Paroo River at Eulo, but the river level is estimated to be around a peak above the minor flood level.

Minor flooding is continuing along the Barcoo River at Retreat following a peak early Tuesday morning. Further downstream, minor flooding is occurring along Cooper Creek at Windorah (Main Channel), with moderate flooding possible over the weekend as upstream flows arrive.
In the upper Barcoo River, minor flooding is easing following a peak at Isisford Wednesday morning.
Along the Thomson River at Camoola Park, minor flooding is occurring, with moderate flooding possible over the weekend as upstream flows arrive. Further downstream, minor flooding is possible at Longreach from Sunday and Jundah from Saturday. Further rises are likely as upstream flows from Camoola Park continue to arrive.
Further rainfall and showers are possible over parts of the catchment for the next few days. This warning will be updated as required.
Thomson River:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Thomson River at Camoola Park, with minor flooding possible at Longreach and Jundah. Minor flooding is occurring at Bogewong.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is currently around 3.30 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park may reach around the moderate flood level (4.00 m) Sunday.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 2.65 m and slowly rising, below the minor flood level.

River level rises are occurring along the Georgina River and tributaries following rainfall over the last few days. Moderate flooding is possible along the Georgina River at Marion Downs from Monday. An earlier flood peak along the Eyre Creek has passed through Glengyle, where minor flooding is easing.
Showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are forecast across the Georgina River and Eyre Creek catchments for the next few days. Further river level rises are likely over the weekend and into next week. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Georgina River to Marion Downs:
Minor flooding is occurring at Roxborough Downs and Boulia. Moderate flooding is possible at Marion Downs.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs was 2.40 m at 9:00 am Friday and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Saturday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (4.00 m) during Monday. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall and as upstream flows arrive.

A major flood peak was recorded at Quilpie during Wednesday evening, where the river level is now above the moderate flood level and slowly easing. Further downstream at Thargomindah, minor flooding is possible from overnight Friday into Saturday, and moderate flooding is possible from Sunday as upstream flows arrive.
Bulloo River to Quilpie:
Moderate flooding is slowly easing along the Bulloo River at Quilpie.
The Bulloo River at Quilpie is currently at 4.60 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Bulloo River at Quilpie is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) into Saturday.
Bulloo River downstream of Quilpie:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Bulloo River downstream of Quilpie.

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT WINTON
BELOW MINOR PEAK OBSERVED AT BIRDSVILLE WITH RENEWED RISES POSSIBLE FROM NEXT WEEK
Heavy rainfall has been observed across the eastern part of the Western River catchment during the weekend which has led to rapid river level rises along the upper reaches of the Western River and its tributaries. At Winton, moderate flooding is now easing slowly.
Along the Diamantina River, river levels are rising above the moderate flood level at Diamantina Lakes. A below minor flood peak is passing Birdsville. However, renewed river level rises are possible from next week as upstream flood waters arrive.
Showers and storms are possible over parts of the catchment for the next few days which may cause further river level rises in some areas. This warning will be updated as required.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 4.13 m and rising, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m).
Western River:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Western River at Winton.
The Western River at Winton is currently at 2.35 m and steady, with moderate flooding.

Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is easing at Roseberth. Renewed rises are possible as the flood waters arrive from upstream.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station peaked near 3.75 m during Monday, below the minor flood level. The river is currently at 3.55 m and steady.
Renewed river level rises are possible from next week as the flood waters arrive from upstream.
