Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are likely to continue into the evening.

Weather Situation
Slow moving clusters of severe thunderstorms are continuing across broad parts of the state in a very moist airmass. Storms are expected to continue throughout the evening and into early Friday morning.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Clermont, Hervey Bay, Moranbah, St Lawrence, Aberfoyle and Maryborough.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
90.0 mm WAS RECORDED AT MAY DOWNS ROAD IN THE 1 HOUR TO 5:45 PM.
66.0 mm was recorded at Gympie in the 1hour to 6:30 pm.
85.0 mm was recorded at Yatton in the 3 hours to 6:20 pm.
66.0 mm was recorded at Jo Jo Station in the 1 hour to 3:23 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Darling Downs and Granite Belt,Southeast Coast

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 9:55 pm.
