Severe thunderstorms continuing in southern Queensland
Weather Situation
Severe thunderstorms are supported by a moist unstable airmass in southern and southeastern parts of the state. Storms are expected to continue moving northeast into the evening before weakening.
HEAVY RAINFALL, LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore, Caboolture, Noosa Heads, Taroom, Injune and Cooroy.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next warning is due to be issued by 10:55 pm.

A thunderstorm likely from the late morning, possibly severe with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding.
