Severe Weather Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West and Central West Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall remains possible in northwest Queensland.
Weather Situation
A monsoon trough extends across the northwest and contains an embedded slow-moving low pressure system located near Julia Creek. Rainfall is largely easing over the next day or two, but heavy falls remain possible across parts of northern Queensland.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West and Central West
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast to continue today for parts of Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West and Central West Forecast Districts.Widespread six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 70 mm are likely, with isolated heavy falls of 100mm possible.
These conditions also present a risk to cattle and other livestock.

Locations which may be affected include Cloncurry, Richmond, Julia Creek, Stamford, Selwyn and Mckinlay.
106 mm of rainfall was recorded at Broadwater in the 3 hours to 01:14 am today.
99 mm of rainfall was recorded at Julia Creek Airport in the 6 hours to 8:26 pm yesterday.
117 mm of rainfall was recorded at Gilliat River (northwest of Julia Creek) in the 6 hours to 1:41 pm yesterday.
101 mm of rainfall was recorded at Snake Creek in the 6 hours to 1:20 pm yesterday.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Tuesday.
