Moderate Flood Warning For The Thomson River And Minor Flood Warning For The Lower Barcoo River And Cooper Creek

MODERATE FLOOD PEAK OBSERVED ALONG THE THOMPSON RIVER AT LONGREACH SATURDAY AFTERNOON, MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STONEHENGE AND JUNDAH OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS
RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING ALONG THE LOWER BARCOO RIVER AT RETREAT
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG COOPER CREEK AT WINDORAH LATE THIS COMING WEEK
Significant rainfall totals were observed over upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo River catchments last week which has led to elevated river levels.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
Thomson River:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Thomson River.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park was last observed at 3.70 metres 9 am Sunday 16 February and is slowly falling, above the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the remainder of Sunday and into this coming week.
The Thomson River at Longreach peaked at 4.63 metres around midday Saturday 15 February and is currently at 4.47 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.30 m) during Sunday.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge, however, it is expected that the river level is below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Monday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (3.00 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Jundah, however, it is expected that the river level is below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Jundah may exceed the minor flood level (2.50 m) during Wednesday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (4.00 m) during Thursday. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Barcoo River downstream of Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River downstream of Isisford.
The Barcoo River at Retreat is currently at 2.89 metres and rising, above the minor flood level.
The Barcoo River at Retreat may reach around 3.30 metres overnight Sunday into Monday, with minor flooding.
Cooper Creek:
Minor flooding may occur along the Cooper Creek late in the coming week.
There are no current observations for the Cooper Creek at Windorah (Main Channel), however, based on upstream gauges it is likely that the river level is currently below the minor flood level as flows arrive from the lower Barcoo River.
The Cooper Ck at Windorah (Main Channel) may exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) from Thursday as flows arrive from the Thomson River, and combined with flows from the lower Barcoo River. Higher levels are possible, and forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
