Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Brisbane City, Moreton Bay and Somerset Council Areas.

Issued at 4:11 pm Friday, 26 December 2025.

Isolated severe thunderstorm southwest of Caboolture.

DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Somerset, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:05 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Mount Nebo and Highvale. This thunderstorm is moving towards the north. It is forecast to affect Lake Samsonvale and Dayboro by 4:35 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Southeast Coast district.
Other warnings may be current.

The next warning is due to be issued by 4:45 pm.

for parts of Southeast Coast Forecast District.

Isolated severe thunderstorms over the east.

Weather Situation
A trough is combining with a very humid airmass to trigger multiple showers and thunderstorms over the north, while in the southeast some more isolated storms may develop.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Samford.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, North West, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Central West districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
