Weather Situation
Slow-moving thunderstorms are capable of producing heavy rainfall in a moisture rich environment about the central east. Additionally, gusty thunderstorms ahead of a surface trough in the south may produce damaging wind gusts.
HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts. Locations which may be affected include Sarina, Nebo and Eungella.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Cunnamulla, Eulo, Barringun and Hebel.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
A flood peak is moving down the Dawson River and is nearing Moura. Recent storms have also caused renewed rises in the Theodore area. Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which in combination with existing flows may result in renewed river level rises and minor flooding along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon.
Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and falling slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
