Headline:
Koji has crossed the coast between Ayr and Bowen and has weakened below tropical cyclone intensity. Heavy rainfall is occurring between Ayr and Mackay.

Areas Affected:
Warning zone: None.

Watch zone: None.

Cancelled zone: Whitsunday Islands. Ayr to Mackay, including Bowen and Proserpine.

Details of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji 12U at 10:00 am AEST:
Intensity: Tropical Low, sustained winds near the centre of 55 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 95 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 45 kilometres of 19.8 degrees South 147.6 degrees East, estimated to be 70 kilometres west northwest of Bowen and 225 kilometres northwest of Mackay.
Movement: south southwest at 18 kilometres per hour.
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji (12U) has crossed the coast between Ayr and Bowen, just south of the Burdekin River Mouth, and has weakened below tropical cyclone intensity. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji is forecast to weaken further and move further inland.

Hazards:
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is occurring along coastal parts between Ayr and St Lawrence. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible about areas between Ayr and Mackay today. A Severe Weather Warning is current, and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings may be issued and should be referred to for more information.
Flood Watches and Warnings are also current.

Recommended Action:
People between Ayr and Mackay, including Bowen, Proserpine and the Whitsunday Islands should refer to the Severe Weather Warning.

FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED ALONG THE JOHNSTONE RIVER
The risk of heavy rainfall has eased for the Johnstone River catchment as Tropical Cyclone Koji has moved southward toward the central Queensland coast. Flooding is no longer expected along the Johnstone River at McAvoy Bridge, Mourilyan Mill and Innisfail Wharf.
Forecast showers and thunderstorms over the next few days are not expected to significantly affect river levels.

North Johnstone:
Minor flooding is no longer expected along the North Johnstone River.
The North Johnstone River at McAvoy Bridge is currently at 1.00 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The North Johnstone River at McAvoy Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m).

South Johnstone:
Minor flooding is no longer expected along the South Johnstone River.
No observations are currently available for the South Johnstone River at Mourilyan Mill.

Moderate rainfall across the upper parts of the Herbert River catchment over the last few days has resulted in river level rises. Minor flooding is possible at Gleneagle and Abergowrie Bridge from Sunday evening.
The risk of heavy rainfall has eased for the Herbert River catchment as Tropical Cyclone Koji has moved southward toward the central Queensland coast. Flooding is no longer expected along the Lower Herbert River at Ingham, Gairloch and Halifax.
Forecast showers and thunderstorms over the next few days are not expected to significantly affect river levels.

Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Gleneagle.
No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, river levels are estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.50 m) and steady.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m) Sunday evening. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 4.62 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday.

The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is currently at 5.14 m and rising, below the minor flood level.

Warning for the following areas:
North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and North West

Safety Advice:
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.

Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to low forties over the North West with overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties.

Over the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands maximum temperatures in the high twenties over elevated parts with overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to low twenties. Along coastal parts maximum temperatures increasing to the low to mid thirties with overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties.

Severe heatwave conditions are expected to build over the coming days then ease mid next week. Locations likely to be impacted include Camooweal and Urandangi.

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CLARE AND INKERMAN BRIDGE (BURDEKIN BRIDGE) FROM OVERNIGHT SATURDAY
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DALBEG AND SELLHEIM (MACROSSAN BRIDGE) FROM SUNDAY MORNING
Heavy to locally intense rainfall is forecast to develop across parts of the Burdekin River catchment from overnight Friday. The timing and the location of the heaviest falls will depend on the development and track of the tropical low. This rainfall is likely to result in rapid river and creek level rises. Minor flooding is possible for Clare and Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) from overnight Saturday, and possible at Dalbeg and Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) from Sunday morning. Minor flooding is possible at Burdekin Dam from Monday morning.
This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for adjoining catchments. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy to locally intense rainfall is current for parts of the Burdekin catchment.

Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is possible along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam, with forecast rainfall.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) is currently at 3.80 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) may reach around the minor flood level (12.00 m) Sunday morning, with forecast rainfall.

The Burdekin Dam is currently at 1.86 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin Dam may reach around the minor flood level (3.00 m) Monday morning, with forecast rainfall.

Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is possible along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls, with forecast rainfall.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 6.88 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg may exceed the minor flood level (10.00 m) Sunday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 6.70 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Clare may exceed the minor flood level (9.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) is currently at 5.25 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) may exceed the minor flood level (7.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
