Flood Warning For The Pioneer River Catchment
Issued at 11:00 AM AEST on Sunday 01 March 2026
Flood Warning Number: 3

ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS AND FLOODING OCCURRING ACROSS PARTS OF THE PIONEER RIVER CATCHMENT
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed in the Pioneer River catchment since Saturday morning, which has resulted in river level rises in the upper part of the Pioneer River catchment.
Further rainfall is forecast during the next few days, but is not expected to cause further significant river level rises.

Pioneer River:
Elevated river levels and minor flooding is occurring along Cattle Creek at Finch Hatton and Gargett, and along the Pioneer River at Mirani Township.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.

Final Flood Warning For The Suttor River

FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT ST ANNS
Following a minor flood peak on Tuesday, river levels fell below the minor flood level along the Suttor River at St Anns during Saturday night.
Showers and storms are forecast across the catchment for the remainder of Sunday but are not expected to cause significant renewed rises in river levels.

Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Suttor River at St Anns.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 3.76 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
