Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Balonne River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT SURAT LATE THIS WEEKEND, WITH A MINOR PEAK DURING MONDAY
Rainfall of 40-85 mm recorded earlier this week in the lower reaches of the Condamine River has resulted in river rises through to Warkon on the Balonne River on Friday.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the Balonne River for the next few days.

Balonne River to Surat:
River rises are occurring along the upper reaches of the Balonne River at Warkon on Friday.
The Balonne River at Warkon was at 4.95 metres on Thursday (April 25) and rising slowly, below the minor flood level.
The Balonne River at Warkon is expected to remain below the minor flood level (7.00 m) during Saturday as a small flood peak passes through the area.

There are currently no observations for the Balonne River at Surat (manual gauge). However based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level at Surat is about 3.3 metres and rising on Friday.
The Balonne River at Surat is likely to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) late this weekend, and may peak near 5.40 metres during Monday.

Final Flood Warning For The Paroo River (Nsw)

MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT WILLARA CROSSING
Floodwaters from the upper reaches of the Paroo River in Queensland are moving slowly into New South Wales. These floodwaters are not expected to cause minor flooding along the Paroo River at Willara Crossing.
No significant rainfall has been observed across the region since March and no significant rainfall is forecast.

Paroo River (NSW):
No further flooding is expected in the Paroo River (NSW).

The Paroo River at Willara Crossing is currently at 0.48 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (0.70 m).

Flood Safety Advice:
In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}
