Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Flinders, North East Pastoral and North West Pastoral districts.

Issued at 2:47 pm Sunday, 22 February 2026.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms continue across parts of northeastern South Australia.

Weather Situation
A trough and cold front move through the state today, generating thunderstorms. A very humid airmass ahead of these systems brings the risk of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Flinders, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek, Marree, Hawker, Arkaroola and Olary.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Mid North district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
48.8 mm has been recorded at Port Augusta in the 6 hours to 11:22 am
Cancellation for the following areas:
Mid North

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:50 pm.

Warburton River
Cooper Creek
Lake Eyre
Lake Frome
Finke River and Stephenson Creek
Simpson Desert
Lake Gairdner
