Minor Flood Warning For The Richardson River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DONALD TOWN FROM OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
Moderate rainfall totals have been observed across the Avon and Richardson catchments over the weekend, with river level rises now occurring along parts of the Richardson River. Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Monday which may cause additional river level rises. With this forecast rainfall, minor flooding is possible at Donald Town from overnight Monday into Tuesday.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of Central, North West and South West Victoria, including the Wimmera and Avon-Richardson rivers. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall, is current for parts of Victoria.

Avon-Richardson Rivers:
Minor flooding is possible along the Richardson River.
The Richardson River at Donald Town is currently at 0.43 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, the Richardson River at Donald Town may reach around the minor flood level (2.20 m) from overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Mallee, Northern Country, North Central and North East forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, very heavy rain and showers and easterly winds are expected during Monday. Areas likely to be affected include the Northern Country forecast district and parts of the Mallee, North Central and North East forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

for Heavy, Locally Intense Rainfall

for Mallee, Northern Country and parts of Central, North Central, North East and Wimmera Forecast Districts.

HEAVY RAINFALL TODAY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL POSSIBLE IN THE NORTH THIS MORNING

Weather Situation
Tropical humidity persists to the east of a low in the southwestern Mallee district, resulting in a broad rainband with isolated thunderstorm activity. A trough is moving through the state today with rainfall clearing from the west in its wake.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Central, Mallee, Northern Country, North Central, North East and Wimmera
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible about the warning area. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 60 mm are likely. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 80 to 100 mm are possible.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible throughout the warning area with thunderstorms this morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 70 to 100 mm are possible. The risk of INTENSE RAINFALL decreases later in the morning.
Heavy rainfall is expected to ease by the evening.

Locations which may be affected include Mildura, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Wodonga and Wangaratta.
62.6 MM WAS RECORDED AT TUTYE IN THE 6 HOURS TO 3:23 AM.
44 mm was recorded at Mildura in the 3 hours and 30 minutes to 4:30 am.
54 mm was recorded at Walpeup in the 6 hours to 3:31 am.

* If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet.
* Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Stay indoors and away from windows.
* If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. Heavy rainfall may also increase the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
* Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.

Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Avoca River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CHARLTON TOWN FROM MONDAY EVENING WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
Areas of widespread moderate to heavy rainfall with embedded thunderstorms are forecast to develop during Sunday, continuing into Monday. This forecast rainfall is likely to cause river level rises across the Avoca River from Monday morning, with minor flooding possible at Charlton Town from Monday evening. Higher levels are possible with forecast rainfall. This flood warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of Central, North West and South West Victoria, including the Avoca catchment. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall, is current for parts of Victoria.

Avoca River to Charlton Town:
Minor flooding is possible along the Avoca River.
The Avoca River at Charlton Town is currently at 2.63 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, the Avoca River at Charlton Town may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) from Monday evening. Higher levels are possible.
