Headline:
Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley forecast to be a severe impact to the northern Dampier Peninsula on the west Kimberley coast later Tuesday.
Areas Affected:
Warning zone: North of Broome to east of Cockatoo Island, including Dampier Peninsula and Derby.
Watch zone: Inland east of Derby to Kuri Bay.
Cancelled zone: None.
Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley 08U at 8:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: Category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 120 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 165 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 30 kilometres of 15.7 degrees South 119.9 degrees East, estimated to be 335 kilometres west northwest of Cape Leveque and 355 kilometres northwest of Broome.
Movement: southeast at 11 kilometres per hour.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley is now category 3, is northwest of the Kimberley coast, and is starting to move southeast towards the coast. Hayley is forecast to move east southeast during Tuesday and reach the northern part of the Dampier Peninsula late in the day.
Hayley is forecast to continue strengthening tonight, then possibly start weakening during Tuesday prior to landfall. Hayley is forecast to remain a severe category 3 cyclone until landfall late Tuesday.
