Headline:
Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley is forecast to bring severe winds and heavy rain to parts of the northwest Kimberley coast north of Broome, today.
Areas Affected:
Warning zone: North of Broome to Kuri Bay, including Dampier Peninsula and Derby.
Watch zone: None.
Cancelled zone: None.
Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley 08U at 8:00 am AWST:
Intensity: Category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 155 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 220 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 30 kilometres of 16.3 degrees South 121.2 degrees East, estimated to be 185 kilometres west of Cape Leveque and 215 kilometres north northwest of Broome.
Movement: east southeast at 16 kilometres per hour.
Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley, category 3, is approaching the Kimberley coast. Hayley is likely to pass close to Cape Leveque tonight.
Hayley has begun to show signs of some weakening; however it could still produce very destructive winds in coastal communities as it nears the coast
