Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.

Maximum temperatures mostly in the mid thirties to low forties, decreasing to high twenties to low thirties along the North Tropical Coast. Overnight minimum temperatures mostly in the mid twenties, dropping to the high teens to the low twenties near elevated terrain.

Severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue about the Gulf Country and Peninsula and ease early next week elsewhere.

Severe heatwave conditions have eased over the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders district, but low intensity heatwave conditions may persist for the next few days. Locations likely to be impacted include Aurukun, Kowanyama, Mapoon and Weipa.

The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Saturday 16 November 2024
