Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds

for parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.

Issued at 4:55 am Saturday, 29 November 2025.

Damaging winds developing through elevated parts of the state.

Weather Situation
An approaching cold front will sweep across southern parts of NSW during today, with west to northwesterly winds strengthening ahead of the front. Winds will ease behind the front by Saturday evening.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands
Strong west to northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds by early Saturday evening.
Locations which may be affected include Bowral, Katoomba, Nowendoc, Murrurundi, Walcha and Lithgow.
87 km/hr gust observed at Murrurundi Gap at 2:00am AEDT

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEDT Saturday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Fire Weather Warning

for Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney Region, North Western and Upper Central West Plains fire weather districts

Issued at 04:52 AM EDT on Saturday 29 November 2025

Weather Situation
Warm and dry conditions, tending hot in the north, will combine with northwest to westerly winds which will become fresh to strong during the morning today. A fresh and gusty southwesterly change over the west of the State during the morning will move east during the day, reaching the ranges and coast during the late afternoon and moving up the coast as a southerly change in the late afternoon and evening. Gusty thunderstorms are expected over much of the State, contracting to eastern parts during the day and clearing in the evening.

Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney Region, North Western and Upper Central West Plains
