for Heavy, Locally Intense Rainfall And Damaging Winds
for Mid North Coast and parts of Hunter, Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL AND DAMAGING WINDS CONTINUING ABOUT THE NORTHERN HUNTER AND THE MID NORTH COAST.
Weather Situation
A coastal trough currently positioned offshore from the southern Mid North Coast is forecast to slowly track northwards into Tuesday, with heavy, locally intense rainfall and possible damaging winds expected over coastal and inland areas on the southern side of the trough. Damaging winds are likely to ease during Tuesday, while heavy, locally intense rainfall may continue into Wednesday.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands
Prolonged moderate rainfall with isolated areas of HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast to continue for parts of the Mid North Coast, northern Hunter and adjacent parts of the North West Slopes & Plains and Northern Tablelands districts. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 and 100 mm are likely. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 90 and 130 mm are likely. Moderate to HEAVY RAINFALL is forecast to shift further north into the Mid North Coast during Tuesday, possibly continuing into Wednesday.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible during this period with persistent heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms over coastal areas between Seal Rocks and Nambucca Heads, as well as inland elevated parts of the Mid North Coast district. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 100 and 170 mm are possible. 24-hourly rainfall totals between 160 and 200 mm are possible.
Southeasterly DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible over coastal areas between Norah Head and Nambucca Heads for the remainder of tonight and into Tuesday. Damaging winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds by late Tuesday afternoon.
A Flood Watch and various Flood Warnings are current for multiple catchments. A separate warning for DAMAGING SURF is also current for the Hunter and Mid North Coast. Please refer to http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/.
Locations which may be affected include Port Macquarie, Taree, Kempsey, Gloucester, Forster, Seal Rocks, Barrington Tops, Wingham and Yarrowitch.
83.6 mm was recorded at Careys Peak (Barrington Tops) in the 6 hours to 10:30 pm.
79 mm was recorded at Mount Barrington in the 6 hours to 10:30 pm.
70 km/h sustained winds wind a 90 km/h wind gust were recorded at Norah Head around 9:30 pm.
68 km/h sustained winds were recorded at Nobby's Signal Station around 8:30 pm.
130 mm was recorded at Port Macquarie in the 6 hours to 3:40 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CROKI WHARF FROM LATE TUESDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Manning and Gloucester River catchments from overnight Monday into Tuesday and over the next few days. This is likely to result in river and creek level rises. Major flooding is possible along the Gloucester River at Gloucester from Tuesday morning. Minor to moderate flooding is possible along the Manning River at Wingham, Taree and Croki Wharf from Tuesday morning.
A severe Weather Warning is current for the Manning and Gloucester Rivers.
The situation is being closely monitored, and the warning will be update as required.
Gloucester River:
Major flooding may occur along the Gloucester River.
The Gloucester River at Gloucester is currently at 2.48 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (4.30 m).
The Gloucester River at Gloucester may exceed the minor flood level (4.30 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday. The river level may exceed the moderate flood level (4.90 m) Tuesday morning and may reach the major flood level (5.20 m) late Tuesday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
Manning River:
Minor to moderate flooding may occur along the Manning River.
The Manning River at Wingham is currently at 1.64 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (4.90 m).
The Manning River at Wingham may exceed the minor flood level early Tuesday morning. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (8.90 m) Tuesday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
The Manning River at Taree is currently at 0.73 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (1.80 m).
The Manning River at Taree may exceed the minor flood level (1.80 m) late Tuesday morning. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (2.40 m) late Tuesday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
The Manning River at Croki Wharf is currently at 0.70 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (1.50 m).

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MAITLAND TUESDAY EVENING AND AT WOLLOMBI AND BULGA OVERNIGHT TUESDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Hunter River catchment over the next few days. This is likely to result in river and creek level rises, where moderate flooding is possible along the Wollombi Brook at Wollombi and Bulga and along the Hunter River at Maitland.
A Flood Watch and a Severe Weather Warning are current for the Hunter River catchment.
The situation is being closely monitored, and the warning will be update as required.
Wollombi Brook:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Wollombi Brook.
The Wollombi Brook at Wollombi is currently at 1.93 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Wollombi Brook at Wollombi may exceed the minor flood level (6.70 m) Tuesday afternoon. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (8.60 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with forecast rainfall.
The Wollombi Brook at Bulga is currently at 1.31 metres and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Wollombi Brook at Bulga may exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) Tuesday afternoon. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (3.70 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with forecast rainfall.
Lower Hunter:
Moderate flooding may occur along the Lower Hunter.
The Hunter River at Maitland (Belmore Bridge) is currently at 2.17 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Hunter River at Maitland (Belmore Bridge) may exceed the minor flood level (5.90 m) Tuesday morning. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (8.90 m) from Tuesday evening, with forecast rainfall.

MINOR FLOOD PEAK OCCURRING AT WILCANNIA
The flood peak is now at Wilcannia where minor flooding is continuing.
Based on current forecast river flows and WaterNSW operational strategy, flooding is not expected at Menindee Town gauge. The Bureau will continue working closely with WaterNSW and this warning will be updated if the situation changes.
Darling River downstream of Tilpa to Wilcannia:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Darling River downstream of Tilpa to Wilcannia.
The Darling River at Wilcannia is currently peaking at 9.33 metres and steady, above the minor flood level (9.00 m).
The Darling River at Wilcannia is likely to remain above the minor flood level (9.00 m) during this week.
Darling River downstream of Wilcannia to Burtundy:
Flooding not expected at Menindee Town.
The Darling River at Menindee Town is currently at 3.53 metres and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Darling River at Menindee Town is expected to remain below the minor flood level (8.50 m).
