MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT NITMILUK CENTRE
Heavy rainfall has been recorded across the Katherine River Catchment since overnight Wednesday, and has resulted in rapid river level rises and minor flooding at Nitmiluk Centre. A minor flood peak was observed at Nitmiluk Centre during Thursday morning. Further rainfall observed overnight Thursday into Friday caused renewed river level rises at Nitmiluk Centre, with a second minor flood peak during Friday afternoon.
River levels at Katherine Bridge are expected to remain below the minor flood level for the next few days.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is occurring at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently peaking around 4.14 m, with minor flooding.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
