Minor Flood Warning For The Western And Diamantina Rivers

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WINTON AND BIRDSVILLE
Minor flooding is occurring along the Western River at Winton.
Further downstream, moderate flooding is slowly easing along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes.
A flood peak is currently approaching Monkira where moderate flooding is occurring. As these flows move downstream renewed river level rises are possible at Birdsville over the coming weeks, where minor flooding is occurring.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 4.95 m and falling, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and well above the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway level (2.10 m).
Western River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Western River at Winton.
No current river level observations are available for Western River at Winton, but the river level is currently estimated to be above the minor flood level (1.50 m).
The Western River at Winton is likely to remain above the minor flood level (1.50 m) over the weekend.

Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Monkira. Minor flooding is occurring at Roseberth and Birdsville.
No current river level observations are available for the Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station, but the river level is currently estimated to be above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) during the weekend. Renewed river level rises are possible over the coming weeks as upstream flows arrive.

Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Eyre Creek

SIGNIFICANT RENEWED RISES AND MAJOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT GLENGYLE AND POSSIBLE AT BEDOURIE FROM LATE FRIDAY
MAJOR FLOODING SLOWLY EASING AT MARION DOWNS
The major flood peak along the Georgina River has passed through Marion Downs and is now approaching Eyre Creek, where significant renewed river level rises are starting to occur at Bedourie and Glengyle.
Showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are forecast across western parts of the Georgina River and Eyre Creek catchments for the next few days. This situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.

Georgina River to Marion Downs:
Major flooding is slowly easing along the Georgina River between Roxborough Downs and Marion Downs.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is currently at 6.09 m and steady, with major flooding.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is expected to remain above the major flood level (5.00 m) over the weekend.

Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs:
River level rises are occurring along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs. Major flooding is occurring along King Creek at Cluny.
Eyre Creek:
River levels remain elevated along the Eyre Creek with major flooding occurring at Glengyle and moderate flooding occurring at Bedourie. Significant renewed rises are starting to occur as the main flood peak from upstream arrives.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is currently at 4.75 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie may exceed the major flood level (5.00 m) from late Friday, with continued rises above major likely to continue over the weekend.

The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is currently at 4.60 m and rising, with major flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is likely to remain above the major flood level (4.00 m) for the remainder of Friday, with further rises above major likely to continue over the weekend.
