Moderate Flood Warning For The Western River And Minor Flood Warning For The Diamantina River

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT WINTON
MINOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT BIRDSVILLE
Moderate to heavy rainfall was observed across parts of the Western River catchment over the weekend, resulting in river and creek level rises. It is estimated that a near major peak occurred at Winton Wednesday evening, with river levels now above the moderate flood level and easing.
Further downstream, moderate flooding is falling slowly along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes. A flood peak is currently approaching Monkira where moderate flooding is occurring. As these flows move downstream renewed river level rises are possible at Birdsville over the coming weeks, where minor flooding is occurring.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 5.01 m and falling, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and well above the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway level (2.10 m).
Western River:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Western River at Winton.
The Western River at Winton is estimated to have peaked near the major flood level (3.50 m) Wednesday evening. The river level is currently at 2.65 m and falling with moderate flooding.
The Western River at Winton may remain above the moderate flood level (2.00 m) for the remainder of Thursday and into Friday.

Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Monkira. Minor flooding is occurring at Roseberth and Birdsville.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station was at 4.95 m and falling at 9:00 am Thursday, with minor flooding.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) during the next few days. Renewed rises are possible over the coming weeks as upstream flows arrive.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Eyre Creek

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GLENGYLE AND POSSIBLE AT BEDOURIE FROM THURSDAY EVENING WITH SIGNIFICANT RENEWED RIVER LEVEL RISES
MAJOR FLOODING SLOWLY EASING AT MARION DOWNS
The major flood peak along the Georgina River has passed through Marion Downs and is now approaching Eyre Creek, where significant renewed river level rises are starting to occur at Bedourie and Glengyle.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.

Georgina River to Marion Downs:
Major flooding is slowly easing along the Georgina River between Roxborough Downs and Marion Downs.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is currently at 6.21 m and falling slowly, with major flooding.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is expected to remain above the major flood level (5.00 m) for the remainder of this week.

Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs:
River level rises are occurring along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs. Major flooding is estimated to be occurring along King Creek at Cluny.
Eyre Creek:
River levels remain elevated along the Eyre Creek with major flooding occurring at Glengyle and moderate flooding occurring at Bedourie. Significant renewed rises are starting to occur as the main flood peak from upstream arrives.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is currently at 4.72 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie may exceed the major flood level (5.00 m) from Thursday evening, with continued rises above major likely to continue through to at least the end of the week.

The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is currently at 4.10 m and rising, with major flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is likely to remain above the major flood level (4.00 m) for the remainder of Thursday and into Friday, with further rises above major likely to continue through to at least the end of the week.
