Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Gympie and South Burnett Council Areas.

DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gympie and South Burnett
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:10 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near the area north of Goomeri, the area northeast of Lake Boondooma and the area north of Kilkivan. This thunderstorm is moving towards the north. It is forecast to affect the area south of Biggenden by 8:40 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Southern Downs,Scenic Rim,Cherbourg

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 9:15 pm.

for Large, Possibly Giant Hailstones, Damaging, Locally Destructive Winds And Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

POSSIBLE GIANT HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE NORTH BURNETT AND SOUTHERN CAPRICORNIA THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO.

Weather Situation
Moderately strong instability remains in place over southeast and central Queensland this evening. This is combining with strong winds in the upper atmosphere to provide a favourable environment for the development of scattered severe thunderstorms this evening.
LARGE, POSSIBLY GIANT HAILSTONES, DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Monto and Eidsvold.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Cherbourg, Monto, Gayndah, Eidsvold, Gin Gin, Wondai, Murgon, Childers, Mundubbera and Biggenden.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
4 TO 5 CM HAIL REPORTED NEAR NANANGO AT APPROXIMATELY 5:10 PM.
3 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT REDCLIFFE APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM.
5 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT LAIDLEY CREEK AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM.
4 cm hail reported near Nanango at approximately 5:10 pm.
2 to 3 cm hail reported at Yarrabilba at approximately 3:50 pm.
3 cm hail reported at Peregian at 2:05 pm.
4 cm hail reported near Gatton at 1:50 pm.

Darling Downs and Granite Belt,Central Highlands and Coalfields,Southeast Coast
