Moderate Flood Warning For The Thomson River And Minor Flood Warning For The Cooper Creek

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT STONEHENGE AND JUNDAH OVER THE WEEKEND
MINOR FLOODING EASING ALONG THE THOMSON RIVER AT CAMOOLA PARK AND LONGREACH
Significant rainfall over upper parts of the Thomson and Barcoo River catchments early February has caused elevated river levels and flooding.The main flood peak along the Thomson River is approaching Bogewong where moderate flooding is occurring.
No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
This is the first significant flow of the season and floodwater is moving relatively slowly downstream along the Thomson River. Forecasts along the lower Thomson River and Cooper Creek will be further refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Thomson River:
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Thomson River between Camoola Park and Bogewong. Moderate flooding may occur along the Thomson River downstream of Longreach.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park was last observed at 2.90 metres 9:00 am Thursday and slowly falling, above the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park will continue falling but is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for at least the next few days.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 3.71 metres and falling slowly, above the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach will continue falling but is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.30 m) for at least the next few days.
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Stonehenge, however the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level and rising slowly.
The Thomson River at Stonehenge may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) from late Thursday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (3.00 m) over the weekend
There are no current observations available for the Thomson River at Jundah, however the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level and rising slowly.
The Thomson River at Jundah may exceed the minor flood level (2.50 m) from Saturday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (4.00 m) from Sunday. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Cooper Creek:
Minor flooding may occur along the Cooper Creek early next week.
There are no current observations for the Cooper Creek at Windorah (Main Channel), however, based on upstream gauges it is estimated that the river level is currently below the minor flood level and rising slowly.
The Cooper Ck at Windorah (Main Channel) is expected to continue rising slowly but remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m) over the next few days. The creek level may reach the minor flood level (3.00 m) from early next week.

Major Flood Warning For The Lower Flinders River

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WALKERS BEND AND MAY CONTINUE INTO NEXT WEEK
Major flooding is occurring along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend as floodwaters from the Flinders, Cloncurry, and Saxby Rivers continue to arrive. Major flooding is likely to continue this week and may persist into next week.
A chance of showers and possible storms are forecast across the Flinders River catchment during the next few days, which may prolong the existing peaks travelling through the river systems.
The flood situation is being monitored and warnings will be updated as required.
Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding is occurring along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 9.01 metres and rising, above the major flood level (8.00 m).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend may reach at least 9.50 metres during Friday, with higher levels possible. The river level is likely to remain above the major flood level for the duration of this week and possibly into next week.

Minor flooding has eased along the Connors and Isaac Rivers at Yattan, where the river level fell below the minor flood level early Thursday morning.
Showers are forecast over parts of the catchment for the next few days, however rainfall totals are not expected to significantly impact the river levels.
Connors and Isaac Rivers:
No further flooding is expected in the Connors and Isaac Rivers.
The Isaac River at Yatton is currently at 6.42 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (7.50 m)

FLOOD LEVELS REMAIN ABOVE THE SPRINGVALE DIAMANTINA LAKES RD CAUSEWAY
Heavy rainfall in early February has caused river level rises in parts of the Diamantina River catchment.
Minor to moderate flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
Showers are possible in the upper Diamantina River catchment for the next few days, however these are not expected to result in further significant river level rises.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is continuing at Diamantina Lakes, with the river level currently at 4.68 metres and rising slowly, which is 2.58 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
The river level along the Diamantina River at Monkira is estimated to be above the minor flood level (2.90 m) and rising.
