MAJOR FLOODING EASING AT SURAT, MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT WARKON
MINOR FLOOD PEAK EXPECTED AT WARROO THURSDAY EVENING
The flood peak along the upper Balonne River is approaching Warroo, where a minor flood peak is expected Thursday evening. Upstream at Warkon and Surat, moderate to major flooding is continuing to ease.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the next several days.
A Moderate Flood Warning is current for the lower Balonne River system.
Balonne River to Surat:
Moderate to major flooding is easing along the Balonne River to Surat.
The Balonne River at Warkon is currently at 8.22 m and falling, with moderate flooding.
The Balonne River at Warkon is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (8.00 m) Thursday afternoon and the minor flood level (7.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday.
No observations are currently available for the Balonne River at Surat. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be above the major flood level (9.00 m) and falling.
The Balonne River at Surat is likely to fall below the major flood level (9.00 m) Friday morning. The river may fall below the moderate flood level (7.00 m) during Saturday.
Balonne River downstream of Surat to Beardmore Dam:
Minor to major flooding is occurring along the Balonne River downstream of Surat to Beardmore Dam, with major flooding at Weribone.
The Balonne River at Warroo is currently at 9.71 m and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
The Balonne River at Warroo is likely to peak near 9.80 m Thursday evening, with minor flooding.
