Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Damaging Winds, Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for Sunshine Coast and parts of Ipswich, Gympie, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Noosa, Logan and South Burnett Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms continuing across the southeast.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Gympie, Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, South Burnett, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Noosa
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:30 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Maroochydore, Caloundra, the area north of Kilkivan, Maroon Dam, the area west of Toogoolawah, the area northeast of Texas, Cunninghams Gap and Clifton. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Noosa Heads, Pomona and Rathdowney by 6:00 pm and Stanthorpe, Boonah, Laidley and Kilcoy by 6:30 pm.
61 mm was recorded at Mt Berryman Road in the 30 minutes to 3:45 pm.
55 mm was recorded at Mulgowie Rd in the 30 minutes to 3:50 pm.
52 mm was recorded at Rockside Mt in the 30 minutes to 3:45 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:40 pm.
