for Destructive Winds, Giant Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for Moreton Bay and parts of Somerset, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City, Logan, Western Downs and South Burnett Council Areas.

VERY DANGEROUS STORM WITH GIANT HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS APPROACHING ESK AND RATHDOWNEY
DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, GIANT HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Western Downs, South Burnett, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:35 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large, possibly giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the D'Aguilar Ranges, Somerset Dam and the area south of the NSW border. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Rathdowney, Border Ranges National Park and Mount Barney by 4:05 pm and Beaudesert, Laravale and Kooralbyn by 4:35 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Redcliffe, Caboolture, Clifton and Bowenville. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Jondaryan, southern Moreton Island and Tangalooma by 4:05 pm and Caloundra, waters off Caloundra and Mulgowie by 4:35 pm.

5 CM HAIL STONES WERE REPORTED AT HELIDON AT 2:35 PM.
5 CM HAIL STONES WERE REPORTED AT NOBBY AT 1:55 PM.
5 CM HAIL STONES WERE REPORTED AT CLIFTON AT 1:30 PM.
9 CM HAIL STONES WERE REPORTED AT PRATTEN AT 1:03 PM.
2 cm hail stones were reported at Mt Walker at 12:44 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:55 pm.
