Minor Flood Warning For The Lower Flinders River

RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WALKERS BEND FROM SATURDAY MORNING
Flooding has eased along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend following a renewed major flood peak observed on Thursday 29 January.
A second flood peak passed Etta Plains on Wednesday afternoon and is approaching Wondoola. Renewed rises and minor flooding are possible along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend during Saturday morning.
The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be issued as required.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Minor flooding possible along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 4.47 m and rising, below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend may reach around the minor flood level during Saturday morning. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Moderate Flood Warning For Eyre Creek

MODERATE FLOODING TO CONTINUE AT BEDOURIE AND GLENGYLE INTO NEXT WEEK
The flood peak along Eyre Creek is slowly approaching Bedourie. Downstream at Glengyle, moderate flooding is also continuing to rise slowly. River level rises are expected to continue into next week.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible over parts of the catchment for the next few days, however, this is not expected to have a significant impact on river levels.

Eyre Creek:
Moderate flooding is occurring along Eyre Creek. Minor flooding is occurring along King Creek at Cluny.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is currently at 4.26 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) into next week.

At 9 am Thursday, the river level along Eyre Creek at Glengyle was observed at 3.20 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (3.00 m) into next week.

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT BIRDSVILLE EARLY NEXT WEEK
River levels remain elevated along the Diamantina River, where the main flood peak is downstream of Monkira and slowly approaching Birdsville. Minor flooding is likely to develop at Birdsville early next week.
River levels at Diamantina Lakes are now below both the minor flood level and causeway.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes has fallen below the minor flood level as well as the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is occurring at Monkira. River level rises are occurring along the lower Diamantina River downstream of Monkira.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is currently at 1.95 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) early next week. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
