Major Flood Warning For The Diamantina River

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BIRDSVILLE
Recent moderate to heavy rainfall has caused significant river level rises and flooding across the Diamantina River catchment.
The river level along the Diamantina River at Birdsville peaked Wednesday morning, with major flooding. Elevated river levels above the major flood level are expected to continue at Birdsville over the weekend.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is continuing along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes. The river level is currently at 5.57 metres and steady, which is 3.47 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 m). Minor flooding is occurring upstream at Elderslie.
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate to major flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes between Monkira and Birdsville. Moderate flooding is occurring at Monkira and major flooding is occurring at Roseberth Station.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville was at 8.60 metres and slowly falling at 9:00 am Friday morning, above the major flood level (8.00 m).
The Diamantina River at Birdsville is expected to remain above the major flood level (8.00 m) for the remainder of Friday and over the weekend.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT MOURA, BARALABA AND YAAMBA
FLOODING HAS EASED AT YATTON AND THEODORE
The main flood peak along the Dawson River has passed Theodore, where river levels fell below the minor flood level Friday morning. The flood peak is now approaching Moura, where minor flooding is estimated to be occurring. Further downstream, minor flooding is estimated to be occurring at Baralaba.
Along the Fitzroy River the main flood peak is approaching Yaamba, where minor flooding is estimated to be occurring.
Along the Isaac River, river levels at Yatton fell below the minor flood level Thursday afternoon.
Dawson River to Theodore:
No further flooding is expected along the Dawson River to Theodore.
The Dawson River at Theodore peaked around 8.29 metres Thursday afternoon. The river level is currently at 7.82 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (8.00 m).
The Dawson River at Theodore is expected to remain below the minor flood level (8.00 m).
Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Dawson River downstream of Theodore.
No recent river level observations are available for Moura. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river is estimated to be above the minor flood level (6.00 m) and rising.
The Dawson River at Moura may peak near 7.40 metres Friday afternoon, with minor flooding.
No recent observations are available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be above the minor flood level (4.00 m) and rising.

MAJOR FLOODING SLOWLY EASING AT CUNNAMULLA AND ROCKY
The main flood peak along the lower Warrego River (QLD) has now passed Rocky, where major flood is slowly easing. Major flooding is continuing to slowly ease at Cunnamulla after peaking earlier in the week.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the next few days.
Warrego River downstream of Charleville:
River levels have fallen below the minor flood level at Wyandra while downstream, major flooding is easing slowly between Cunnamulla and Rocky.
The Warrego River at Wyandra is currently at 5.81 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (6.00 m).
The Warrego River at Wyandra is expected to remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m).
The Warrego River at Cunnamulla Bridge is currently at 8.95 metres and falling, above the major flood level (8.00 m).

The Bulloo River at Quilpie is currently at 1.89 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (3.00 m).

Major flooding is continuing along the Bulloo River downstream of Quilpie between Autumnvale and Thargomindah.

Minor to major flooding is continuing across the Thomson, Barcoo and Cooper catchments caused by rainfall over the last two weeks with several flood peaks currently moving through the rivers and creeks.
No significant rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the next few days.
Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Thomson River:
Minor to major flooding is occurring along the Thomson River.
No recent river level observations are available at the Thomson River at Camoola Park. The river level at Camoola Park is expected to be above the minor flood level and falling slowly.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is expected to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the remainder of Friday and over the weekend.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 4.53 metres and falling slowly, with moderate flooding.
The Thomson River at Longreach is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (4.30 m) for the remainder of Friday and over the weekend.

RENEWED RIVER LEVEL RISES WITH MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WALKERS BEND
Moderate to heavy rainfall in the recent weeks has caused river level rises and flooding along the Flinders River.
Renewed river level rises are occurring along the Flinders River at Walkers Bend after a major flood peak of 8.78 metres on Monday 07 April.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the next few days.
The situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding is continuing along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 8.27 metres and rising, above the major flood level (8.00 m).
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is likely to remain above the major flood level for the remainder of Friday and over the weekend, with further rises possible as upstream floodwaters arrive.
