Weather Situation
A trough tracking across northeastern NSW and an unstable airmass are resulting in severe thunderstorms in southeast Queensland.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore, Kingaroy, Caboolture, Cherbourg, Kilcoy and Caloundra.
109 km/h wind gust recorded at Dalby at 10:16 pm.
107 km/h wind gust recorded at Goondiwindi Airport at 6:26 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:10 am, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds were detected near the area south of Kingaroy, the area west of Kingaroy and Toogoolawah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Kilcoy, Kingaroy and the area west of Kilcoy by 12:40 am and the area northeast of Kingaroy, Lake Somerset and Woodford by 1:10 am.

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
A flood peak is moving down the Dawson River and is nearing Moura. Recent storms have also caused renewed rises in the Theodore area. Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.
