Major Flood Warning For The Cape River And Minor Flood Warning For The Suttor And Burdekin Rivers

MAJOR FLOODING TO CONTINUE FALLING AT TAEMAS INTO TUESDAY
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT ST ANNS, DALBEG, AND AT BURDEKIN FALLS DAM
MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT CLARE MONDAY MORNING AND LIKELY AT INKERMAN BRIDGE (BURDEKIN BRIDGE) FROM MONDAY EVENING
Moderate to heavy rainfall since last week has caused river level rises and flooding along the Cape, Belyando, Suttor and Burdekin Rivers.
Major flooding peaked during Sunday afternoon along the Cape River at Taemas, while a minor flood peak is likely during Monday at St Anns along the Suttor River. As these flows continue to move downstream, minor flooding is occurring at Burdekin Falls Dam and at Dalbeg, and minor flooding is expected at Clare during Monday morning, and is likely at Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge) from Monday evening. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Along the upper Burdekin River, Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) peaked below minor overnight Sunday into Monday.
Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment over the next few days, which may cause additional river level rises across the Burdekin River catchment. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Suttor River at St Anns.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 5.57 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to peak above the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Monday. The river is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) into Tuesday.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is occurring along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam at Taemas.
The Cape River at Taemas peaked at 9.71 m around 1:15 pm Sunday, with major flooding. The river is currently at 9.41 m and falling, with major flooding.
The Cape River at Taemas is expected to remain above the major flood level (8.00 m) for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin river at Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge) peaked at 11.40 m around 2:00 am Monday 23 February, below the minor flood level. The river is currently at 10.80 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is likely to remain below the minor flood level (12.00 m).
The Burdekin Dam is currently at 3.38 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin Dam may peak near 3.90 m overnight Monday into Tuesday, with minor flooding.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 10.28 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg may peak near 12.20 m overnight Monday into Tuesday, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 8.95 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Clare is expected to exceed the minor flood level (9.00 m) Monday morning. The river may reach around 9.50 m overnight Monday into Tuesday, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is currently at 6.65 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is likely to exceed the minor flood level (7.00 m) Monday evening. The river may reach around 7.50 m Tuesday morning, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
