Flood Warning For The Nicholson, Gregory, And Albert Rivers

RIVER LEVELS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE EASING ALONG THE ALBERT RIVER (INCLUDING AT BURKETOWN), LOWER NICHOLSON AND GREGORY RIVERS
River levels remain elevated but are continuing to fall across the Nicholson and Gregory River catchments. Along the Albert River at Burketown Airstrip, the river level is continuing to ease.
Rainfall may develop this week with a tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria, which may result in renewed river level rises. The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.

Nicholson and Gregory Rivers:
River levels have eased at many locations, however, flooding may still be continuing at some low laying areas.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Major Flood Warning For The Flinders River

MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED TO CONTINUE AT WALKERS BEND
Renewed river level rises are occurring upstream of Walkers Bend along the Saxby River at Wondoola. Along the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend, major flooding is expected to continue falling slowly following a major flood peak earlier this month, however, renewed river level rises are likely over the next few days as these upstream flows arrive. River levels are not expected to exceed levels observed earlier this month.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days with a tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria. This may result in renewed river level rises. The situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Western Cape York Peninsula, Gulf of Carpentaria, and North East Coastal Rivers.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding continues along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 8.65 m and steady, with major flooding.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is expected to remain above the major flood level (8.00 m) for the next few days. Renewed rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Minor Flood Warning For The Diamantina River

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT BIRDSVILLE IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS
River levels remain elevated along the Diamantina River, where the main flood peak is downstream of Monkira and approaching Birdsville. Minor flooding is likely to develop at Birdsville in the next few days.
River levels at Diamantina Lakes remain above the moderate flood level and the causeway.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 4.24 m and steady, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
River level rises are occurring along the lower Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes. Minor flooding is continuing at Monkira.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station was at 1.75 m and steady at 10:00 am Sunday, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is likely to exceed the minor flood level in the next few days.
