    Minor Flood Warning For The Gwydir River

    MINOR FLOODING ESTIMATED TO BE EASING AT GRAVESEND ROAD BRIDGE
     MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT YARRAMAN BRIDGE  
     FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT PALLAMALLAWA
     Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed in the Gwydir catchment during Saturday and into Sunday, which caused river level rises and flooding along the Gwydir River. Minor flooding at Gravesend Road Bridge is estimated to be easing, with a minor peak observed late Sunday afternoon. Minor flooding is occurring at Yarraman Bridge.
     No further significant rainfall is expected for this event.
    
    Gwydir River downstream of Copeton Dam:
    Minor flooding is occurring along the Gwydir River downstream of Copeton Dam.
    No recent observations are available for the Gwydir River at Gravesend Rd Bdg, however, The river level is estimated to have peaked near 7.50 meters during late Sunday afternoon and is currently falling around the minor flood level. 
    The Gwydir River at Gravesend Rd Bdg is expected to fall below the minor flood level (6.10 m) Monday afternoon. 
    
    The Gwydir River at Pallamallawa peaked at 5.85 m around 4:00 am Monday 4 August, below minor flood level ( 6.00 m). The river level is currently at 5.49 m and falling.
    The Gwydir River at Pallamallawa is expected to remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m). 
    
    The Gwydir River at Yarraman Bridge is currently at 5.41 m and rising, with minor flooding.
    The Gwydir River at Yarraman Bridge may reach around 5.50 m Monday afternoon, with minor flooding.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
     Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
     Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
     Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
