    Moderate Flood Warning For The Daintree River And Flood Warning For The Mossman River

    MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DAINTREE VILLAGE OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
     Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the Daintree River catchment since Wednesday evening, resulting in river and creek level rises, with minor flooding occurring at Daintree Village since Friday morning. River levels are also elevated along the Mossman River at Mossman.
     Further heavy rainfall is possible during Friday evening and into the weekend. With forecast rainfall, moderate flooding is possible along the Daintree River at Daintree Village overnight Friday into Saturday. Higher levels are possible if heavy rainfall persists.
     This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
     A Tropical Cyclone Advice is current for Cape York Peninsula for Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle. A Flood Watch is current for the Cape York Peninsula and parts of the North Tropical Coast.
    
    Daintree River:
    Moderate flooding is possible along the Daintree River at Daintree Village. Minor flooding is occurring at Bairds.
    The Daintree River at Daintree Village is currently at 5.30 m and falling, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
    With forecast rainfall, the Daintree River at Daintree Village may reach the moderate flood level (6.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. Further rises are possible if heavy rainfall persists. 
    
    Mossman River:
    River levels are elevated along the Mossman River.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
     Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
     Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
     Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
