     for DAMAGING SURF
     
     for parts of Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast Forecast Districts.
     
     Issued at 10:37 am Monday, 4 August 2025.
     
     
     Damaging surf continuing on Monday.
     
     Weather Situation
    A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is generating south to southeasterly winds and large, powerful southeasterly waves along the northern NSW coasts. Conditions will ease during Monday afternoon as the low moves away to the east.
    DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
    Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast
    LARGE AND POWERFUL SURF CONDITIONS are likely, which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure between Seal Rocks and the Queensland border during Monday.
     Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.
     These conditions are expected to ease during Monday afternoon.
     Locations which may be affected include Coffs Harbour, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Yamba, Evans Head and Nambucca Heads.
     Waves up to 7 metres recorded at Byron Bay at 6 pm on Sunday.
     Waves up to 6.6 metres recorded at Coffs Harbour at 7 pm on Sunday.
     Waves up to 6.2 metres recorded at Crowdy Head at 10 pm on Sunday.
     A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current, refer to the latest warnings at http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/
    
     
     The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
     * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
     * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
     
     The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Monday.
     Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
